Sis, Obedience Is Better: When Obedience Becomes Your Breakthrough

What was the last thing God asked you to do? Have you done it? Have you truly obeyed Him?

Take a moment to think about it.

These are the questions I’ve had to ask myself recently, and I’ve realized just how disobedient I had been towards God.

You see, God gave me the vision for She Plans, God Leads (SPGL) over a year ago. I’d spent time researching, outlining, and preparing everything needed to bring this vision to life.

I had curated content ideas, secured social media handles, bought subscriptions, and more. Yes, girl, ALL THE THINGS.

But despite all that, I still had not fully done what God told me to do. Why?

Well, I think it was a combination of things:

Fear. Insecurity. Pride.

Just to name a few.

I kept telling God, “I’ll do it when I have this and that figured out in my life.” “I’ll do it when my family dynamics are more peaceful.” “I’ll do it when my living situation is more settled.”

But then the Holy Spirit brought to my attention the story of King Saul in 1 Samuel 15.

God gave Saul specific instructions—He gave Saul a mission. But Saul chose to only partially complete it, doing things his own way. As a result, he was stripped of his kingship.

You can’t partially obey God and expect Him to be pleased.

I realized that I had only partially obeyed when it came to launching SPGL. And guess what? Partial obedience equals disobedience.

I decided that I no longer want to live in disobedience. I want to do everything God had asked and called me to do. I didn’t want Him to give the assignment He placed on my heart to someone else because of my disobedience.

So here I am, letting go of the fear, the insecurity, and the pride, stepping out in faith to do what God instructed—scared and all.

So, what mission has God given you? What task has He laid in your hands? Have you done it?

If not, repent. Ask God to forgive you and commit to doing what He has asked—to the fullest extent.

Don’t let disobedience, fear, insecurity, or pride rob you of the work God wants to do through you.

Reflect and Share – I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below:

  • Take a moment to reflect: What has God asked you to do that you’ve been putting off? Write it down and commit to taking the first step today.

  • Let’s hold each other accountable—share in the comments what God has called you to do, and one step you’ll take this week to move forward.
